i heart toile

I made these pillowcases from some awesome chinoiserie toile I found at Fabric Depot on my last trip to Portland town.

These were not a failure, but were pedestrian and satisfying at the same time.

These were not failures.

Fabric from Oakland as Jonathan and I relocated myself to Seattle. We stopped and visited Polly and Peter (pietre?Peiter? what's Canadian for Peter?) ...almost 3 months later they were boxers.

I am thinking seriously about creating an alternate set of instructions for the pattern (Simplicity 9958) since I didn't find the instructions clear when I was learning to sew, and if you are going to do things like add snaps, you need to know when to add interfacing and if you are going to french/flat fold the seams, ... blah blah blah....

misery number one

Ok, so I think this project looks better in this pic than in life.

The quilt squares are about 10" square, pale lime on the front, brown thread and brown on the back.

Problems: attaching the squares together. I don't think it's going to end up looking that great.
Problems: The start/stops of "embroidering" these graphics with my sewing machine make for a sloppy appearance, in my opinion.
Problems: I was secretly working on this project when a friendly crafter showed me a bag she made for reload with sign language hands that beat these down into a pile of shame.

Should I continue this project? turn it into pillows or something else. Seriously, the camera is generous.

I have about ~10 letters done and could see not finished it, but it would be my first quilt I've no intention of finishing.

Inaugural gargamel

The point of this blog, as opposed to my previous ramblings, is to document from inspiration through creation, some of my projects.

Often I make mistakes and am dissatisfied that the results do not compare well with my expectations. Though cheeky, this blog is also a tool for me to remember what I did wrong and right last time I did something crafty.

Maybe we can interact on the executing problems.
